The Hotel Gonzaga really is just a couple of minutes walk from
the train station! Found some reasonably cheap flights
so decided to go to Milan for the January sales. The hotel
itself is very clean, and obviously very new, with anything you
really need as far as services. Being so central means
it becomes easy exploring the city and all the famous shopping
districts, and the public transport system is cheap and easy
to use. There is loads of stuff on offer just near the
Hotel like bars and restaurants, and the only real advice I would
give would be to bring a big suitcase and you will not run short
of things to take home with you!

The hotel was easy to get to and the staff where friendly and
efficient, and it seems the building was refurbished recently
as everything in the place is pretty new. The ADSL internet
was useful, as was the satellite television for the news. The
buffet breakfast was good and gave you everything you needed,
and the staff were friendly and helpful even though my Italian
is absolutely dreadful. The excellent transport connections
also made it easy to get to the exhibition centres without too
much fuss. Would recommend the Gonzaga as it is a clean
and excellently run outfit that is very competitively priced
for the service offered, and the booking online meant that my
room was guaranteed well in advance, which is always useful when
booking during one of the trade fairs.

Although Milan may not have been the most picturesque of the
cities we visited on our tour of Italy it was certainly the most
up beat and cosmopolitan. The shopping was what my wife
and daughter spent most of their time doing, and the city centre
is enjoyable and has a real buzz about the place. The Hotel
Gonzaga was one on the best three stars we stayed in during our
whole trip. The triple room we booked was actually spacious
with a big bathroom as opposed to a small double room with a
fold out bed! The hotel is quite new and due to this everything
works and is in god condition. The breakfast was the usual
continental spread, but a small breakfast works out well in Italy
as you need to save space for the fantastic food on offer. Would
recommend the Gonzaga to anyone coming to Milan, and recommend
Milan to anyone in need of some good old fashioned retail therapy.
